Pasture-raised pigs are happy pigs, but also renowned for having a flavour that can't be matched by any other system! We wanted to work with the heritage breeds that are most suited to pasture living and started with Berkshire boars, which are a black pig with white points.(the sows are 1/2 Berkshire) Their meat is dark, rich and juicy - something you won't find in just any store.
The pigs have full access to a large bush pasture with wet wallows and lots of roots and grass to eat. They are supplimented with local non GMO grains, Diatomacheous earth, and all the whey we have left over from cheese making. No chemicals or drugs are used, as so far there's never been anything to treat - this life is just a healthy way for a pig to live!
